Fluoride Treatments

The best kind of dental treatment is a preventative treatment, because it can help ward off painful tooth pain and complex procedures in the future. One of the simplest but most effective things we can do to help you is giving you a fluoride treatment every six months when you come in for teeth cleaning.

What Is Fluoride?

Fluoride is a very common mineral found all around us. Our bodies even produce it naturally, but a little extra exposure to it can help keep our teeth healthy and strong.

Many of our favorite foods and treats can create acidic substances that will unfortunately eat away at our tooth enamel. The more enamel we lose, the more exposed we are to plaque and tartar, causing permanent damage to our teeth.

When fluoride mixes with the calcium in our bodies, it creates a protective barrier to defend your teeth against decay.

Is the Fluoride in Our Water Different?

The fluoride in the water you drink is no different than the fluoride we use for professional treatment at our Fort Walton Beach office. The only difference is the amount. The concentration in our drinking water is much lower than what we provide for our patients when they come in for teeth cleaning.

What Are the Benefits of Fluoride Treatment?

  • Helps prevent tooth decay in combination with good oral hygiene
  • Safe and effective
  • Can reverse early signs of tooth decay
  • Re-mineralizes tooth enamel
